A Comparative Study of Monoskiers, Conventional Downhill Skiers, and Snowboarders
Subjects in this study were examined to establish energy costs of monoskiing vs. downhill skiing and snowboarding. Jerrold Petrofsky and co-authors used experienced skiers, both with and without disabilities, to accomplish this study, having the non-disabled skiers use adapted equipment, as well, for comparisons.

Play for Children with Severe and Profound Disabilities
Play, as a powerful phenomenon of human existence, enhances growth and development in the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. The adapted physical educator along with the general educator can be instrumental in developing and enhancing play skills in children with severe and profound disabilities. Carol Huettig, Dwan Bridges, and Andrea Woodson discuss ways to maximize participation and create the proper environment for play for these children.

Sustaining Exercise Motivation and Participation Among People with Spinal Cord Injuries - Lessons Learned from a 9-Month Intervention
It is well-documented that in the non-disabled population, 50% of those who start exercise programs drop out within 6 months. Among people with spinal cord injuries (SCI) one might expect this dropout rate to be even higher, given the large number of barriers to exercise people with SCI must face. In this article, Kathleen Martin and her co-authors present a summary of incentives and barriers to exercise discussed by focus groups from an ongoing exercise training study. Recommendations for sustaining exercise participation are made.
